Out and About: Discovery Park Lighthouse

I've stepped into Discovery Park a few times.  It's so so so gorgeous there.  We did my maternity shoot here as well!  But there is so much to this park as it covers 534 acres and over 11 miles of hiking trails that I didn't even know where to start when I took Totes there for the first time.  But one thing always peaked my curiosity the most; the West Point Lighthouse.  From the water, we've gone past this point many times so it's always been on my bucket list.  A fellow mom keyed me in to a very helpful tip the other day:  If you stop by the visitors center, you can pick up a parking pass, valid for a few hours only, if you have children under the age of eight. The parking lot is right next to the south beach and lighthouse, much more convenient than hiking down from the upper parking lot a mile and a half away.
Bring a few toys to play in the sand and snack for a little picnic.  The beach is great and very clean.  Great trails and long beach front for walking on a clear day.
